Swale Fusion Festival of Light 2018

Festival Update!

On Friday 12th October our pupils took part in this years parade, which was a roaring success! Kent Equality Cohesion Council, who organised the event, had this to say:

"On behalf of our team we would like to thank your school and it’s pupils for attending the second Swale Fusion Festival of Light and making it even bigger and better than before.  The behaviour of your schools pupils was exemplary and we are really happy that they were able to attend and showcase their unique lanterns during the parade and enjoy the fireworks after."

We are so proud of everyone who attended the event and showed their support for not only the school, but the local community. Well done!

Swale Fusion Festival of Light!

On Monday 24th September thirty of our Year 1 children and thirty of our Year 2 children took part in artist’s workshops in preparation for this year’s Swale Fusion Festival of Light. They were visited by Nick, our resident artist for the day, who guided them all through the process of making their own paper lanterns. The children used their knowledge of shape along with new joining techniques taught by Nick, to create their own lantern designs. Lots of children commented during the workshops, saying “this is so much fun” and “I love this”. Their smiles showed their sense of achievement and everyone carefully took their lanterns home at the end of the day, ready to take part in the parade.

The festival itself will be held on Friday 12th October and the parade will start at 6.30pm from Sittingbourne High Street and finishing in Albany Park. From there will be a firework display to round off the evening.

The event supports community cohesion and celebrates shared British values, shining a light on the things that bind us together and we are so proud that we have the opportunity as a school to take part in it. We hope to see lots of participation from our children and parents and even a few teachers are planning to attend and support the event!

If you can come, we look forward to seeing you there!
