Alerting activities serve the purpose of waking up the body and brain preparing the children for focused learning and engagement. They focus on providing vestibular input (e.g. spinning, swinging, jumping) and proprioceptive input (e.g. pushing, pulling, heavy work). Alerting is the first step within a sensory circuit. Your child will respond to certain alerting activities differently to other children so it's important to trial some activities with your child and see what they enjoy and what they respond to.
