Term 5

How Does Your Garden Grow?

This Term our role play area has become Mr. McGregor's garden! We have already had lots of fun making our own Peter Rabbit story books just like Beatrix Potter and slicing up fruit and vegetables to taste and smell them.

During term 5 we will be investigating what plants need to grow and think about what plants give us.  What would it be like without plants?  We are lucky at The Oaks to be surrounded by plants from tiny blades of grass to the huge oak trees giving us shade in the blazing sun.  There are some plants we eat - what's your favourite?  Have you every eaten the plants below?

Do you know how these things grow?  See if you can find out.

Remember not all  plants are food for us, some can be eaten by birds but not people.  Your grown-ups know, so eat the plants on your plate and you'll grow big and strong!

Hooray!  Robins won the 'Punctuality Pup' award.  He is going to be staying in our classroom all week!

This week we have been using coins to make different totals.  We have thought about place value.  If the total was 16p we would find one ten pence coin and then add coins together to make 6p.

Royal Wedding Fever!

To end our 'How Does Your Garden Grow' topic, we celebrated by having a May Day celebration.  The children show cased Topic and English work, sang songs about growing and danced around the maypole.  We enjoyed drinking home made lemonade and eating rainbow fruit kebabs.
