This term the children's topic will be Step in Time, with the focus being on History and Art.

We launched our topic by dressing up as a person or an era from the past.

The children will be looking at Dinosaurs and finding out which ones are herbivores or carnivores.  During Early Man week the children will be using berries for their cave paintings and find out about how they lived.  For Egyptian week the children will be making Egyptians cartouches and writing in hieroglyphics.  They will making helmets and shields then be slaying a dragon as Vikings. Queen Victoria will visit to answer their questions and they will learn about workhouses and the food they ate and the punishment children received if their behaviour was not appropriate!  Where the Future will take us no one knows!

Vikings going to slay a dragon! 1

The children had a lot of fun being Vikings and going to slay a dragon for their stew!  They learnt about the Viking gods as well as how they used runes for their writing.

World Book Day

World Book Day 1

World Book Day was exciting with cats clawing, zebras zooming and rabbits hopping everywhere as well as spells being busily cast.  The Gruffalo had lost his child and Peter Pan could not find his shadow.

There was also a gangster Granny who could not be trusted with a swag bag of items taken!  Superman, with the help of Wonder Woman, saved the day and made sure everything was as it should be and returned to the rightful owners.  With favourite books shared and read to the children, an enjoyable day was had by all.

Queen Victoria travelled in time to visit the Blackbirds and they enjoyed asking her questions about her bathing machine. They were very respectful remembering to bow and curtsey!
