This term our topic will be Autumn. We are looking at changes to the natural world such as the colours of the leaves and will be collecting these for collage work and sorting. We will be looking at hibernation and those animals that hibernate and animals that are nocturnal.
Natural materials such as chestnuts, conkers and fir cones will be used to support our maths work as well as providing us with resources to enjoy lots of messy play.
Our role play area will be a 'den' and children will be able to experiment with light and torches.
We will talk about Firework Night and how to keep ourselves safe, including our pets.
At home it would be lovely if you could talk to your children about changes they see in plants and trees when walking to school and how different animals start to prepare for the winter. Scissor skills and pencil skills will be encouraged daily so please try to provide opportunities for your children to practise further at home.
We enjoy daily outdoor free-flow play with children changing into their wellingtons and coats. Please promote your child's independence with dressing undressing and toileting, to enable them to develop their personal self-care skills.
