Welcome to Kingfishers!
We hope that you have all had a wonderful summer holiday and that you will enjoy Year 2.
This term our topic is 'Around the World'. We will be focusing mainly on Geography and learning about the world's continents and oceans. On Friday 8th September we will be having an 'Aeroplane Day'. We will be visiting a different country in each Year 2 classroom. These will be Iceland, Australia and Japan. We will be learning some facts about each country, tasting some food related to our class country and also doing some art activities. Later in the term we will also be learning about China, Jamaica and Rwanda.
We will be writing letters, fact files, diary entries, and stories related to the books we will be reading. These will include 'One Day On Our Blue Planet in the Savannah' by Ella Bailey and 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers. We will also be writing riddles related to 'Finding Nemo'.
We will be focusing on place value, addition, subtraction and money. Throughout the term we will be practising addition facts for 10 and 20.
Our Science topic this term is 'Living Things and Their Habitats'.
