PE and us:
Across the school we really enjoy PE. We strongly believe the significant importance of developing the children's Physical Literacy and therefore the Fundamentals of Movement. Throughout the year we will develop these through a range of sporting activities including games, gymnastics, dance and athletics.
We use times like Sports Relief to get parents and children active together. 5 a Day and Time to Chill are classroom based exercises we like to do too! When we can we like to get visitors to come in so we can try some different sports! We are lucky enough to have an experienced sports coach who runs clubs both before and after school for children across the key stages. We currently run clubs for Dance, Movement, Games and Football.
With a large proportion of the Government PE Funding we have received, we are working with Take Pride CiC, using their expertise to inspire and develop the skills of Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Midday Meals Supervisors and of course the children through high-quality training and support. In addition to Staff Meetings and Staff Development Days, the team of experienced Teachers and qualified coaches from Take Pride CiC, work alongside our staff to increase subject knowledge and therefore even greater confidence in teaching high quality PE and sport. We have been seeking information from our families about clubs the children currently attend out of school hours, in order for us to make links with the local community. From this we have found out that many children would like to try out Taekwando and Trampolining, as a result we have made contact with clubs and local schools to arrange taster sessions. The aim is that amongst many other benefits, this will improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision at The Oaks.
