The new 30 hour initiative

As you may well be aware, from September 2017, the Government are rolling out the new 30 Hours of free childcare for those who are entitled to it. At present, the full details of this have not yet been released, but we are pleased to say we will be offering this option.

A child qualifies for the extended entitlement if both parents are working (or the sole parent in a lone parent family is working) and each parent earns, on average, a weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hours (National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage) and less than £100k a year.

If you are eligible, you are able to use as much or as little of the 30 hours and can split it between providers for example, you may want your child to do 3 full days at our nursery which would amount to 18 hours and then used the additional hours to pay a child minder who may drop them off and pick them up. The finer details about how this works has not yet been released by Kent County Council, but we know this is how the funding can work. Essentially, if you meet the criteria, you are entitled to up to 30 hours of free childcare. You may choose to only use the standard 15 hours which is absolutely your right, but you could use any combination that fits with the sessions that we offer.

Take a look at the application form and if you believe you are eligible, please indicate that on the form and the pattern of sessions and number of hours that you would want to claim with us.
