Anne Ryback

Chair of Governors

"I am the Chair of Governors at the Oaks, where I have been a Governor since 2009. I have a particular interest in Special Educational Needs, but I want all the children to get the best out of their education at The Oaks.

I’ve lived  and worked in Sittingbourne for over forty years.  I worked as a scientist at Shell Research, now the Kent Science Park, and later retrained as a secondary school science teacher.  I taught in Medway and Sittingbourne for nearly twenty years before retiring."

Julia Youens

Vice Chair of Governors

"I am a mum of two boys, both of whom have attended The Oaks. My career and passion is sport and getting young people interested and involved with PE and School Sport. I run my own Education company working with teachers, young people and sports coaches to 'learn through sport'. I hope that I can bring a parents perspective to the governing body, as well as a supporting role using my 'educational' background."

Emma Tench

Clerk to the Governors

"I am a mum of two; one in secondary education and the other at University.  I have 10 years experience within Education, both in the classroom and with outside agencies.  I am passionate about schools in our local area as I believe they are among the best in the country."

Lyndsey Wood

Staff Governor

"I am the Headteacher at The Oaks Infant School. I have been teaching since 2004 and I enjoy every minute of it. As Headteacher I feel I have a good standing to be a supportive and challenging member of the Governing Body."

Leigh Bacon

Parent Governor

"I am a Mum of two boys who keep me busy and active. I have recently changed careers and I now work as a Teaching Assistant at another School, which I love. I hope I can represent parents point of view while having some understanding of the education sector."

Melissa Prince

Staff Governor

"I’ve been a member of staff at The Oaks since 2016. I started at The Oaks as a 1-1 TA in reception and now I support children across the school with interventions in Speech and Language, Social and Emotional communication, Nurture sessions and WILD. I help support the Breakfast Club the school offer each morning, where pupils have a welcoming environment, a yummy breakfast and activities.

Before I started at The Oaks I was the manager of a local Early Years Nursery, offering full day care for children aged between 3mths and 4yrs of age. It was while I was in this position I gained my 2:1 degree in EY’s management.

I am very much interested in developing my professional skills around children’s well-being and mental health to further support the pupils at The Oaks."

David Gore

Co-opted Governor

"I joined the school governing body in 2016. I have one daughter  at the school and have been involved in various different duties in that time. I have learnt more about how a school runs and the different challenges involved including the formation of the academy. I have vast experience in the commercial sectors around technical services and Health and safety."
